As a wrestler at The Ohio State University, Mark won an NCAA championship and earned All-American honors. He was the first ever UFC Heavyweight champion. Won the PRIDE 2000 Open Weight Grand Prix tournament. He was inducted in to the UFC Hall of Fame in March of 2008 at UFC event in Columbus, OH. Mark is the pioneer of “Ground and Pound” and made his UFC return in January of 2009 in Dublin, Ireland vs Shogun Rua. Mark then won his fight vs Stephan Bonnar at historic UFC 100 by a unanimous decision. Mark faced Randy Couture at UFC 109.  It was the first fight ever between two UFC Hall of Famers.
