As a wrestler at Michigan State alongside fellow MMA superstar Rashad Evans, Maynard finished 7th at the 2003 NCAA championships.  Gray became a sparring partner for BJ Penn, then acquiring an interest in MMA.  Maynard became a member of season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter series, earning a spot on to Coach BJ Penn’s team.  Since joining the UFC, Maynard has quickly become a winner, having not lost a contest to date.
